Former Pakistan PM Imran Khan has launched a scathing attack on Army Chief General Asim Munir, accusing him of deliberately creating tensions with Afghanistan and serving Western interests over national priorities. Imran Khan made the remarks in a social media post a day after his sister, Dr Uzma Khan, was allowed to meet him in Adiala Jail following weeks of restricted access.
“Asim Munir’s policies are disastrous for Pakistan. Because of his policies, terrorism has spiralled out of control, which grieves me deeply,” Khan wrote on X in Urdu.
Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), claimed Munir’s actions were aimed at gaining international recognition as a “mujahid” while ignoring Pakistan’s national interests. He alleged that Munir’s orders on drone strikes, military operations, and the expulsion of Afghan refugees have directly contributed to rising terrorism in the country.

Imran Khan also detailed harsh treatment during his imprisonment, stating he has been held in solitary confinement with no access to family or legal counsel. “I have been kept in complete solitary confinement, locked inside a cell with no contact with a single human being for four weeks. Even the necessities guaranteed under the jail manual have been taken away from us,” he said.
He described the actions as severe psychological torture, claiming that even after high court directions, his meetings with political colleagues were restricted. Khan accused Munir of being “mentally unstable” and morally bankrupt, leading to the “complete collapse of the Constitution and rule of law in Pakistan.”

Dr Uzma Khan, who visited her brother, confirmed that while his health is “perfectly fine,” he is enduring significant mental strain. “However, he was very angry and said that they are subjecting him to mental torture,” she stated.
Khan also praised Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi for taking a stand amid political suppression. He encouraged resistance, arguing that the law is applied selectively against PTI members while others remain untouched.
