A Pakistani journalist’s flood coverage has gone viral after her raw and emotional reaction on camera left viewers stunned. Reporter Mehrunnisa was covering the devastating floods in Pakistan when she suddenly abandoned her professional tone, and the video went viral in seconds.
In the viral video, she appeared visibly scared, which was shot from a swaying boat, and she started speaking about her fear on camera instead of delivering the regular news. Her candid expressions quickly spread online, which made her an unexpected internet sensation.
“Mera Dil Yun Yun Kar Raha Hai”
Mehrunnisa’s emotional outburst became the highlight of the broadcast. She told viewers, “Mera dil yun yun kar rha hai” (my heart is doing this), describing her heart palpitations.

In another clip, she shouted in fear as the boat rocked, saying, “My heart is going down. Guys, please pray for us. I am very uncomfortable and scared.”
The honesty of her reaction resonated with many viewers, who compared her to Chand Nawab, the Karachi journalist who became famous in 2008 after struggling to record a train station report.
Floods Continue to Wreak Havoc
While the video gained viral attention, the situation on the ground remains grim. At least 739 people have died in Pakistan due to heavy monsoon rains and flash floods since late June. Nearly 1,000 people have been injured, and more than 2,400 houses damaged, while over 1,000 animals have been lost.
Officials warn that the severe weather will continue into September, putting thousands more at risk.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Hit Hardest
The northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been the worst affected. Authorities have declared a state of emergency in nine districts. Torrential rains left 368 people dead, 182 injured, and damaged more than 1,300 homes.

Urban flooding has also struck Karachi, where six people lost their lives. In Punjab, large-scale crop destruction has left thousands displaced along the Indus and Chenab rivers.
A Viral Video With a Serious Message
People on social media made jokes about this viral video and how it resembled Chand Nawab’s famous moment. On the other hand, many people also emphasized how serious the situation in Pakistan these days is because of the flood. Mehrunnisa’s terror brought attention to the hazardous circumstances that reporters encounter when covering natural disasters.
Her viral moment shows that reporters are also human, often risking their lives to keep the public informed.
