A man was arrested in Karachi, Pakistan, for allegedly detaining a polio worker in his apartment, according to a report by ARY News.
The incident unfolded when a polio worker entered the building to administer vaccines as part of the ongoing immunization campaign. The resident, identified as a trader in the mobile market, and his family reportedly refused to allow the vaccination and allegedly confined the worker in a room within their apartment.
The situation escalated when the vaccination team filed a complaint, prompting the assistant commissioner to arrive at the scene with a heavy police presence. The family claimed their child was unwell and insisted they would administer the vaccine themselves. However, police intervened by breaking down the door to rescue the worker. The resident was subsequently taken into custody, and a case has been registered against him. Authorities have stated their intention to proceed with further arrests based on the charges.

In a separate incident on September 10, a remote-controlled bomb targeted a police vehicle in Wana Rustam Bazaar, South Waziristan, injuring 13 people, including six police personnel and seven civilians, Geo News reported. The attack occurred on Kir Kot Road while police were providing security for an ongoing anti-polio campaign.
Rescue teams promptly transported the injured to the District Headquarters Hospital in Wana, where Medical Superintendent Hamad Mahmood confirmed the arrival of both civilian and police casualties. One critically injured victim was transferred to Dera Ismail Khan for advanced treatment.
According to police officials, the bomb specifically targeted one of two police vehicles assigned to protect polio workers in the area. The region has since been cordoned off, and an investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrators, Geo News reported.
