Six children were killed and one other sustained injuries when the roof of a mud house collapsed in Shangla district of northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Tuesday, Rescue 1122 officials said.
Seven children, while sleeping, were buried under the debris when the incident took place early morning in the Rahimabad Bassi area of the district, Rasool Khan Sharif, a rescue official, told Xinhua.
Following the incident, rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the injured child to a nearby hospital, where the child is said to be in a critical condition, according to the official.
Police officials in the area said that the unfortunate incident happened due to the dilapidated condition of the house, and an investigation into the incident has been launched.
