NSA Doval, Sullivan Discuss Regional Security, Strengthen Indo-US Partnership

The White House reported that National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval held a significant phone discussion with U.S. NSA Jake Sullivan to address regional security challenges and reinforce Indo-Pacific stability, signaling deepening strategic alignment between India and the U.S.

Focus on Indo-Pacific Security and Emerging Technology

The conversation underscored India-U.S. commitment to mutual interests and democratic values. Both leaders “welcomed progress in the bilateral partnership,” citing recent advancements through the Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET) and the Indian Ocean Dialogue. Areas of enhanced cooperation include clean energy supply chains and defense collaboration, according to the official release.

This discussion builds on the recent high-level meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Joe Biden on the sidelines of the Quad Summit in Delaware. The leaders discussed ways to enhance India-U.S. collaboration across sectors further. Modi acknowledged Biden’s pivotal role in strengthening bilateral ties and noted the added “dynamism” resulting from recent diplomatic engagements.

Expanding Bilateral Relations Across Key Sectors

The India-U.S. strategic partnership now encompasses diverse areas, including trade, cybersecurity, clean energy, defense, science, and technology. This comprehensive partnership, based on shared democratic principles and people-to-people ties, is further bolstered by bipartisan support, reflecting a united front amid global challenges.
