Nepal, Qatar Sign 8 Deals, Labor Pact Excluded

Nepal, Qatar Sign 8 Deals, Labor Pact Excluded

On Wednesday, bilateral discussions occurred between Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad, the Amir of the State of Qatar, and Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. However, the labour pact was notably absent from the eight agreements signed between Qatar and Nepal during Amir’s visit.

After bilateral talks between representatives from both countries in Kathmandu, the agreement was signed by the visiting Amir of Qatar and Prime Minister of Nepal, Pushpa Kamal Dahal. An hour before signing the agreements, PM Dahal and the Amir held a private meeting. “During the delegation meeting, six agreements between ministries and two agreements between the private sectors were signed,” confirmed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

An agreement on cooperation and news exchange between Qatar News Agency (QNA) and National News Agency, Nepal (RSS) was signed by Qatar and Nepal.

Moreover, as per the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the governments of Qatar and Nepal have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for collaboration in Education, Higher Education, and Scientific Research.

Nepal and the State of Qatar have also signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate in the fields of youth and sports.

In a similar vein, the Public Prosecution of the State of Qatar and the Office of the Attorney General of Nepal have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation.

The Institute of Foreign Affairs (IFA) of Nepal’s government and the Diplomatic Institute of Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on Diplomatic Training and Education. Qatar, a wealthy Middle Eastern nation known for its oil reserves, and Nepal, situated in the Himalayas. Besides government-level interactions and agreements, businesses from both nations have also formed a Joint Business Council (JBC) between the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FNCCI) and the Qatar Chamber.

Additionally, there has been a renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Qatar Chamber and the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) between Qatar and Nepal.

Following a lunch hosted by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the Amir of Qatar concluded his two-day state visit to Nepal and departed by plane back to his home country. At the airport, President Ram Chandra Poudel, Vice President Ram Shaya Prasad Yadav, Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, and Foreign Minister Narayankaji Shrestha bid farewell to Amir Al Thani.

Amir Al Thani’s discussions with President Paudel and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal during his visit underscored the commitment of both nations to enhancing their bilateral relations.
