A massive explosion at an explosives manufacturing plant in Tennessee on Friday morning has left multiple people dead and several others unaccounted for. The blast at Accurate Energetic Systems, LLC, located about an hour southwest of Nashville, completely destroyed one building, scattering charred debris and damaging vehicles. Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis confirmed the tragic news, stating, “We do have some folks, we can confirm that we do have some that are deceased.”
What Happened at the Plant?
The explosion occurred in the Bucksnort area, on the line between Hickman and Humphreys County. Sheriff Davis described the incident as a “very devastating blast” that “encompassed one whole building.” Emergency crews from multiple agencies rushed to the scene to contain the resulting fire. However, first responders are being forced to hold back from the immediate area due to the significant danger of secondary explosions at the facility, which handles high-energy explosive materials.

According to its Facebook page, the company manufactures “various high explosive compositions and specialty products for the US DoD and US industrial markets.” Residents in the vicinity reported feeling the impact of the powerful blast, which underscores the force of the detonation.

Both the Hickman and Humphreys County Sheriff’s Offices have issued urgent pleas for the public to avoid the area entirely. If you are in the area, stay clear and follow the instructions from local authorities.”
