Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel takes ‘full responsibility’ for the drone attacks on Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar, on Monday, while awaiting final details about the operation.

Netanyahu stressed the strong cooperation between the two nations at a joint press conference with the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Jerusalem.

“Rubio’s visit is a clear message that America stands with Israel in the face of terror,” he stated. He further said that Israel and the United States would ‘continue to act together to protect their countries’, as per Reuters.

Rubio’s visit comes at a time when there are heightened tensions between the US and the Middle Eastern allies, after the Israeli strikes. Marco Rubio, standing beside Netanyahu, stated, “You can count on our unwavering support and commitment to see it come to fruition.”

The US Secretary of State asserted the need to dismantle Hamas to secure regional stability. As per AFP, Rubio said, “Hamas needs to cease to exist as an armed element that can threaten the peace and security of the region.”

He further mentioned that the people of Gaza deserve a better future, and it cannot begin until Hamas is eliminated. Rubio affirmed that the US will keep pressurizing Iran, which is a known supporter of Hamas, until it ‘changes course’.

Netanyahu expressed gratitude for Rubio’s reassurances and stated that the visit secures unwavering support during a critical period. The joint statements showcase the shared goal of both nations to ensure peace and security, as they confront threats by Hmaas and its backers.
