The father of Sgt. Elisheva Rose Ida Lubin, an American woman killed while serving in Israel’s Border Police, says he has been subjected to repeated harassment from his neighbors. According to reports, they hurled antisemitic slurs and even mocked the death of his daughter. A video of the heated exchange was shared on social media, as first reported by the New York Post.
Who Was Rose?
Elisheva, widely known as Rose, was only 20 when she was killed in November 2023. She was stabbed to death by a Palestinian teenager while patrolling the Old City of Jerusalem. Rose was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, and later moved to Israel in August 2021 as a “lone soldier,” a term used for those serving in the Israeli Defense Forces without immediate family in the country.
She officially joined the Border Police in March 2022 and had already served for more than a year when the Israel-Hamas war began in October 2023. Friends and fellow soldiers remembered her as passionate, courageous, and deeply committed to protecting lives.
Harassment After Her Death
Her father, David Lubin, still living in Atlanta, said that life has become increasingly difficult since his daughter’s death. He explained that some neighbors have repeatedly insulted him, calling him a “corrupt Israeli.” The tension worsened when David put up memorial signs to honor Rose’s service and sacrifice, across from homes where neighbors displayed pro-Palestinian slogans.
Although David said he never objected to their right to express their views, he described one woman’s actions as crossing the line. She reportedly shouted a slur at him and screamed, “your daughter deserved to die,” according to Atlanta News First.
Escalation and Confrontation
Angered by the remark, David crossed the street to confront the neighbors. The encounter quickly turned into a shouting match, and both sides recorded the argument.
One of the neighbors, Anna Bouyzk, insulted David further, calling him “a corrupt politician.” She even suggested that Rose may have been killed in an Israeli friendly fire incident. Anna and her husband, Mark, argued that Rose’s death was justified because “she was fighting.” David responded by condemning Anna’s words, calling her “disgusting” and accusing her of spreading hateful lies.
“I’d Say It a Million Times Again”
When asked later, Anna admitted she had used the slur and said she had no regrets. “I’d say it a million times again,” she told reporters, doubling down on her remarks. She also blamed David personally for his daughter’s death.
David has said the harassment has gone too far and is now considering reporting the incidents to local police. Despite the pain and hostility he faces at home, he continues to honor Rose’s memory, reminding people of her dedication and sacrifice as a soldier who chose to serve Israel far from her birthplace in the United States.
