US Eyes Decade-Long Gaza Control, Population Relocation, And Mega Rebuild Plan

Trump Administration’s Controversial Proposal

A post-war plan making the rounds in the Trump administration sees the United States governing Gaza for a decade or more, resettling its two million citizens, and rebuilding the enclave as a tourist and manufacturing centre, The Washington Post has reported. The 38-page document, the Gaza Reconstitution, Economic Acceleration, and Transformation Trust (GREAT Trust), is being mapped out by the US-sponsored Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF).

Under the plan, Gaza’s population would be relocated temporarily to other nations or to restricted areas in Gaza during reconstruction. Owners of property would be given digital tokens in return for redevelopment rights, and residents displaced would be given $5,000 each, as well as four years of subsidy of rent and a year of food allowance.

Humanitarian Concerns and Regional Tensions

The strategy has generated global outrage. Palestinian and humanitarian agencies have condemned possible forced transfers. There has been an increase in casualties following relief distributions since the GHF stepped in in May 2025, with over 1,000 reportedly dead, mostly at the hands of Israeli forces close to GHF installations.

Israeli forces have in recent times increased activity close to Gaza City, bringing to a halt short-lived ceasefires that permitted the delivery of aid. Executive director at the World Food Programme, Cindy McCain, cautioned that Israel’s declaration of Gaza as a “dangerous combat zone” may cut off food access and risk aid workers. Integrated Food Security Phase Classification puts almost a quarter of Gaza’s population, around 514,000 individuals, under famine-like conditions.

Strategic Implications and Political Reactions

The plan, which is proposed, coincides with Trump’s previous statements supporting US rule over Gaza, which he claimed would make it a “Riviera of the Middle East.” Israel has also contemplated taking over parts of the West Bank, an act likely to be met with staunch criticism from the international community. Palestinian leaders, including Abbas, have had travel restrictions placed on them in order to attend UN sessions, while various Western countries intend to recognize Palestine at the forthcoming UN General Assembly.

Trump’s administration and Israeli leadership have so far not formally commented on the plan, raising questions on its viability and legality. Critics contend that this kind of approach would fuel tensions in the region, displace millions, and exacerbate humanitarian crises.
