Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has warned the Houthis of a “very heavy price” after the Israeli military launched strikes on multiple targets in Yemen. The action came in response to repeated missile and drone attacks by the Houthis on Israel, highlighting the growing danger of the Yemen conflict spilling further into the Middle East.

Netanyahu Issues Strong Warning

PM Netanyahu released a video statement in Hebrew on Sunday, saying Israel will not back down from defending itself. “Whoever attacks us, we will attack him. Whoever plans to attack us, we attack him. I think the entire region is learning Israel’s strength and determination.

The Houthi terrorist regime is learning the hard way that it will pay and is paying a very heavy price for its aggression against Israel,” Netanyahu declared. His remarks underline Israel’s determination to show military strength, not only to the Houthis but also to other regional actors observing the conflict.

IDF Targets Power Plants and Fuel Sites

The Israeli Defence Force (IDF) confirmed that its fighter jets struck several key facilities in Yemen. These included a military site housing the Presidential Palace, the Adar and Hizaz power plants, and a major fuel storage site.

The IDF accused the Houthis of using civilian infrastructure for military purposes. Sharing details on X, it said the facilities were all being used to support “the military activity of the Houthi regime.”

The strikes represent one of Israel’s most direct military actions against the Houthis, showing that the country is willing to extend its fight beyond its borders when threatened.

Escalation After Repeated Attacks

According to the IDF, the airstrikes were a direct response to the Houthis’ repeated missile and UAV launches targeting Israel in recent days. In a Telegram statement, the IDF said: “

The IDF will operate against the ongoing and repeated attacks of the Houthi terrorist regime against the State of Israel, and remains determined to continue removing any threat posed to the civilians of the State of Israel, wherever it is required.” This indicates Israel’s strategy of striking back swiftly and targeting the infrastructure that enables such attacks.

Wider Regional Message

Beyond Yemen, Israel’s strikes carry a larger warning to other groups in the Middle East, such as Hezbollah and Iran-backed militias. According to Netanyahu, Israel is sending a message throughout the area with its military action.

This escalation could push the Yemen conflict further into the broader regional struggle, where Israel faces threats from multiple directions. By striking critical sites in Yemen, Israel is making it clear that its red lines extend far beyond its own borders.
