Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev launched a blistering attack on German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and French President Emmanuel Macron, warning they could “end up being identified by their teeth” like in 1945.

“The two fraternal twins, Merz and Macron, are rare freaks. One thirsts for revenge. The other, a rooster, is afraid of the ‘predator’ at the gate and is blackmailing [U.S. President Donald] Trump with [Russian President Vladimir] Putin. They have completely forgotten the lessons of WWII,” Medvedev wrote.

The statement reflects Moscow’s growing frustration with Europe’s continued backing of Ukraine. Medvedev added that he had “two bad news” items for the European leaders: “Trump is alive,” and “Russia is advancing.”

Europe Accused of Fueling the War

Medvedev’s comments echo Kremlin claims that European leaders are obstructing peace talks by encouraging Ukraine to maintain demands Moscow calls “unrealistic.” According to Russian officials, these demands are prolonging the conflict, leaving little room for compromise.

The rhetoric underscores rising tensions between Moscow and Europe as the war drags on. Russia’s framing positions Western allies as both instigators and obstacles to ending hostilities.

Trump Rumors Spark Social Media Frenzy

While Medvedev invoked Trump in his warning, speculation about the U.S. president’s health created a separate storm online. On Friday night, Trump disappeared from public view for two days, sparking rumors that he was gravely ill or even dead.

Hashtags such as #whereistrump and #TRUMPDIED began trending on X (formerly Twitter). By Saturday morning, #whereistrump ranked sixth among the most discussed topics in the United States.

The frenzy ended abruptly when photos and videos surfaced of Trump playing golf at his Sterling, Virginia club.

VP JD Vance Moves to Reassure Americans

Vice President JD Vance addressed the swirling rumors in a recent interview, stressing that Trump was “in good shape.”

“He’s the last person making phone calls at night, and the first in the morning,” Vance said. He acknowledged that “terrible tragedies happen” but emphasized that he was fully prepared to step in if needed.

“I feel very confident the president of the United States is in good shape, is going to serve out the remainder of his term and do great things for the American people,” Vance said. “And if, God forbid, there’s a terrible tragedy, I can’t think of better on-the-job training than what I’ve gotten over the last 200 days.”

A Dangerous Mix of War Rhetoric and Political Rumors

Medvedev’s stark warning and the Trump rumors highlight a dangerous convergence: rising nuclear-era rhetoric in Europe and fragile political discourse in the United States.

The Kremlin continues to paint Europe as an aggressor while using sharp language reminiscent of Cold War threats. At the same time, the U.S. finds itself fighting viral speculation about its president’s health, even as his administration manages global crises.
