Information and Broadcasting Minister and Joint General Secretary of the Awami League has said that BNP leader Khaleda Zia should not be able to do politics.
Hasan Mahmud told this in response to journalist and questions at the unveiling ceremony of five books at the secretariat on Thursday at noon. The information minister said that according to the law of Bangladesh, if someone has been punished for more than two years, she cannot be a candidate in any election. Khaleda Zia is sentenced to over two years. He said that Khaleda Zia has been allowed to stay at home conditionally, considering her health. physical condition and age, she was allowed to stay in a house outside the prison on a conditional basis. According to that condition, she cannot do politics. There is no condition that she can do politics. According to the condition, she will take treatment from home and not participate in any other activity.
“So it is not possible for her to do politics. When a journalist drew attention to the minister, she said Khaleda Zian can do politics. Hasan Mahmud responded that the law minister never said she could do politics. The law minister’s speech has been published differently in some media. I don’t know what others have said. I am saying, as the information minister of the government, that she (Khaleda Zia) should not be able to do politics under the conditions under which she is allowed to stay at home.”
