Kenya’s Minister Justin Muturi Speaks Out on Son’s Abduction

Kenya Ex-AG Minister Justin Muturi who served as Attorney General under Ruto broke his silence about the kidnapping of his son. He alleged that National intelligence Service(NIS) has adapted his son sparkling political and public outrage. Leslie Muturi Was released after being reportedly kidnapped on a Saturday night in Nairobi’s Lavington area.

A Grim Picture

According to a State of National Security report, at least 80 people, including Muturi’s son, were abducted in Kenya over a six-month period. State-funded rights organizations have also reported that 44% of child abduction cases recorded between September 2023 and August 2024 occurred in eight regions: Nairobi, Rift Valley, Coast, Eastern, Western, Nyanza, Central, and North Eastern.

Muturi’s Desperate Search for His Son

Feeling stonewalled, Muturi said he restored to contacting president Ruto directly, first sending a WhatsApp message . When the message went unread for hours he decided to drive to State House to seek the President’s help personally.

Pattern of Abductions

This incident is not an isolated case. Foreign nationals have also been targeted in recent months. Tanzanian activist Maria Sarungi Tsehai was reportedly abducted by armed men but later released after several hours. Such cases highlight a troubling pattern of enforced disappearances, further fueling public anxiety.
