India proposes to open up power retail sector to private cos, draft bill shows

NEW DELHI, Oct 10 (Reuters) – India plans to open up its electricity retail market for private companies, ending the dominance of state-run distributors in some states, according to draft regulations proposed by the federal power ministry. The move will allow private companies such as Adani Power , Tata Power, Torrent Power and CESC to strengthen their presence in the country.
