Helicopter Crash at Turkish Hospital Claims Four Lives Amid Foggy Conditions

A tragic helicopter crash occurred on Sunday in southwestern Turkey, resulting in the deaths of four individuals, including two pilots, a doctor, and a hospital employee. The provincial governor attributed the accident to thick fog that impaired visibility during take-off.

Mugla Provincial Governor Idris Akbiyik reported that the helicopter struck the fourth floor of the hospital as it was taking off from the roof, leading to its subsequent crash. “There was intense fog,” Akbiyik stated, confirming that authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident.

The helicopter was en route to the city of Antalya when it took off under poor visibility conditions. Footage broadcast by NTV showed the helicopter drifting in the fog shortly after take-off before crashing into an empty field adjacent to the hospital.

This incident follows a recent tragedy in Turkey, where six soldiers lost their lives in a collision between two helicopters during an army training exercise in Isparta province. The defense ministry has yet to disclose the cause of that crash.
