Elon Musk’s 2022 Critique Resurfaces: Declares Trump ‘Too Old’ for Presidency, Suggests ‘It’s Time for Trump to…’

Kamala Harris’ campaign has recently brought attention to comments made by Elon Musk about Donald Trump just two years ago. Musk had posted on X (formerly Twitter) that Trump was too old to serve another term as president. This resurfaced as Trump prepared for a highly anticipated interview with Musk, the CEO of Tesla.

In July 2022, Musk reacted to a video where Trump referred to him as “another bulls*** artist.” Musk posted, “Trump would be 82 at the end of his term, which is too old to be chief executive of anything, let alone the United States of America. If DeSantis runs against Biden in 2024, then DeSantis will easily win – he doesn’t even need to campaign.”

Before Trump’s much-anticipated interview with Musk, Harris’ campaign shared a screenshot of Musk’s post on X, adding the caption, “Interesting.”

The Harris campaign also used its Truth Social account to highlight Trump’s previous comments mocking the delayed start of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ presidential campaign. DeSantis had launched his campaign with an interview on X, which, like the upcoming Trump-Musk interview, was marred by technical difficulties.

Regarding Trump’s remarks about Musk, they occurred a day after Musk announced he was backing out of his $44 billion deal to buy Twitter. During a rally in Anchorage, Alaska, Trump criticized Musk, saying, “You know, he said the other day, ‘Oh, I’ve never voted for a Republican.’ I said, ‘I didn’t know that; he told me he voted for me.’ So he’s another bulls*** artist.”

On the same day Trump was injured at a rally in Pennsylvania when gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks attempted to assassinate him, Musk publicly endorsed Trump. While the bullet only grazed Trump’s ear, two others were injured, and a 50-year-old firefighter named Corey Comperatore tragically lost his life. The shooter was eventually killed by Secret Service snipers.

Following the incident, Musk posted on X, “I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery,” alongside a video of Trump raising his fist and mouthing the word “fight” after being shot.
