Elon Musk’s $20 Million Crypto Giveaway Deepfake Video Goes Viral, Sparks Scam Concerns

A deepfake video featuring Elon Musk claiming to promote a $20 million cryptocurrency giveaway has gone viral, sparking confusion and concern online. The video directs viewers to a fraudulent website and falsely presents Musk endorsing the giveaway, which is not legitimate. Musk’s team quickly warned against the scam, sharing a message on X (formerly Twitter) to alert users that neither Musk nor his companies are involved in any such giveaways. The video shows a fake Musk saying, “I’ll be doing a $20 million crypto giveaway at Elon4u.com for one week starting on December 13,” urging people to visit the website and complete a few quick steps.

In other news, Musk reignited his feud with Bill Gates, suggesting that Gates could go bankrupt if Tesla surpasses Apple to become the world’s most valuable company. Musk posted on X that Gates’ short position against Tesla could be disastrous for him if Tesla’s market value soars. Tesla is currently valued at $1.251 trillion, well behind Apple’s $3.729 trillion, meaning it would need to grow nearly 200% to take the lead. Musk pointed out that if Tesla reaches the top, Gates’ short position could result in significant financial losses.
