EAM Jaishankar visits school named after Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore in Russia’s St Petersburg.

While on his visit to Russia, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar expressed his joy at touring the school dedicated to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore in St. Petersburg. He highlighted the deep affection Rabindranath Tagore had for India, finding it genuinely touching, and noted the school’s remarkable enthusiasm and affection for India. Jaishankar shared his experience on social media, stating, “Visiting Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore Ji’s #653 School in St. Petersburg was truly delightful. Their love for India was profoundly moving. Witness it yourself.”

Foreign Minister Jaishankar also posted a video snippet of his trip to the school, showcasing students in formal attire welcoming him with waving flags of both India and Russia. Upon his arrival, the students extended a warm welcome by offering sweets.

In the video shared by Jaishankar, students presented an enchanting dance performance. Following this, he addressed both the students and other attendees at the school. Jaishankar’s visit to Russia, scheduled from December 25 to 29, is part of the ongoing high-level interactions between the two nations.

During the trip, Jaishankar participated in a round table conference with Indologists in St Petersburg, where he emphasized the need to shape international relations with distinct Indian characteristics. He expressed his commitment to dedicating more time to explore India’s rich cultural and knowledge reservoir amid the current geopolitical landscape.

In discussing global affairs, Jaishankar underscored the significance of countries developing a direct understanding of each other. Additionally, President Vladimir Putin extended an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Russia in the coming year.

“We will be glad to see our friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Russia,” Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar at the Kremlin.
