In a shocking incident, a disgusting crime has taken place that has shocked the Indian community in Canada, police have issued a Canada-wide arrest warrant for Manpreet Singh, a 27-year-old man from Brampton, in connection with the murder of Amanpreet Saini, a woman believed to be of Indian origin.
On October 21, a 27-year-old Amanpreet's body was found with multiple severe injuries at Charles Daley Park in Lincoln, Ontario. The case was registered with the police in the Niagara region. Amanpreet Saini belonged to Prem Basti in Sangrur of Punjab, and had been residing in Canada for the last four years. Police believe that 27-year-old Manpreet had already fled the country when the body was found on Tuesday.
According to the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS), the body of 27-year-old Saini was found in a park in Lincoln, Ontario, on October 21, bearing “traumatic injuries.” The police confirmed that the murder appeared to be a targeted attack, adding that “there is no ongoing threat to public safety.”
Investigators have identified Manpreet Singh as the primary suspect and stated that he fled Canada shortly after the body was discovered. The police informed media that Singh’s family hails from Punjab, and he is believed to have escaped to India. The NRPS said in a statement, “Investigators have information to suggest that Singh fled the country shortly after Amanpreet’s body was discovered.” They also said that the murder appears to be a targeted attack and there is no threat to public safety.
Authorities have released Singh’s photograph and urged the public not to approach him, warning that he may be dangerous. “If seen, call 911 immediately,” the police instructed. The Canadian security agencies are now coordinating with Indian law enforcement to locate and apprehend Singh.
Reports indicate that Amanpreet Saini was originally from Sangrur district in Punjab and had been living in Toronto for the past few years. Her death has sparked shock and grief among members of the South Asian community in Canada. Investigators continue to appeal for any information regarding Singh’s whereabouts as the murder probe deepens.
