A lawsuit has been filed against California State Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil, accusing her of abusing her former male chief of staff, Chad Condit, in a manner described as “sex slavery.”
The legal complaint, lodged in Sacramento County Superior Court, alleges that Senator Alvarado-Gil engaged in “erratic, controlling, and sexually dominating abuse of authority and power” over Condit. According to the lawsuit, Condit faced unwanted sexual advances and harassment while serving as the senator’s chief of staff. The complaint claims that Condit, the son of former Congressman Gary Condit, was pressured into performing explicit acts during work-related travel.
Condit asserts that he was compelled to perform sexual favors for Alvarado-Gil over several years to retain his position. This “quid pro quo relationship” allegedly resulted in serious back and hip injuries for Condit. The lawsuit describes the situation as one involving unwelcome advances and sexual behaviors, paired with punitive measures and displays of power.
One particularly serious allegation in the lawsuit is that Condit suffered debilitating injuries from performing oral sex on the senator in a car, resulting in three herniated discs and a collapsed hip. Condit claims he started using his back injury as an excuse to reject the senator’s advances in August of the previous year. In response, he was allegedly issued a disciplinary letter accusing him of inappropriate behavior and was subsequently terminated in December for continuing to refuse her advances.
The lawsuit also alleges that Senator Alvarado-Gil had a “lifetime free pass” to cheat on her husband. Condit began working for her during her 2022 Senate campaign as a Democrat and became her chief of staff upon her election. Notably, Alvarado-Gil recently switched from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party.
Condit is seeking monetary damages for lost wages, reduced earning capacity, lost employee benefits, and emotional distress.
Senator Alvarado-Gil’s attorney, Ognian Gavrilov, has dismissed the accusations as unfounded, asserting that Condit’s claims are fabricated and financially motivated. Gavrilov stated, “We expect the senator to be fully cleared of these baseless, financially driven allegations.”
