A small Australian passenger plane carrying two people and their dog vanished on August 2, 2025, with no wreckage, distress calls, or clues. This has resurfaced the mystery of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.
The plane was flown by 72-year-old Gregory Vaughan with his 66-year-old partner, Kim Warner, and their dog, Molly. It departed from George Town Airport in Tasmania at 12:45 pm to Hillston Airport in New South Wales. However, the flight never reached the destination and vanished mid-air over somewhere Bass Strait without a trace.

The family alerted the authorities when they received no updates. The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) initiated a massive search operation through ferries, helicopters, and police boats across Tasmania, Bass Strait, and south Victoria, but even after 22 days, the plane remains missing. There is no sign of debris, oil slick, or emergency beacon.
Eugene Reed, a local flight instructor, said that the small planes need to inform the air services before taking off, but Gregory did not do so. He also stated that Gregory had a good experience in flying an aircraft, but the passenger plane he departed on was new.

The incident has resurfaced the case of Malaysian aircraft MH370, which disappeared in 2014 with 239 passengers, with no trace, just like this passenger plane.
