The Chinese entertainment world was shaken on September 11, 2025, by the sudden death of multi-talented actor and singer Yu Menglong, also known as Alan Yu. Official reports say his passing at 37 was due to an accidental fall, but the public remains skeptical, pushing for more investigation. The tragedy has clouded his successes, leaving people with unanswered questions.
Yu Menglong was a versatile artist who built a successful career across multiple facets of entertainment. He first gained fame as a singer on reality shows like Dragon Television's My Show! My Style! (2007) and Hunan TV's Super Boy (2010, 2013). He successfully transitioned to acting, with his breakout role as the ninth prince in the 2015 web drama Go Princess Go. He became well-known in China as a result, and his role in the 2017 fantasy series Eternal Love later brought him popularity on a global scale. He released music albums such as Toy (2015) and Yu Meng Long (2017) in addition to his acting career. He even attempted directing. His net worth wasn’t publicly known, but his steady run of major roles in television and music showed he was at the height of a successful career when it was cut short.
Yu Menglong died in Beijing after falling from a building while intoxicated, according to the official report from Chinese police. The incident was quickly declared an accident. This official narrative was swiftly contested, though. Alleged audio and video recordings surfaced online weeks after his passing, pointing to a far darker conspiracy. These leaks, which have not been officially confirmed, claimed his abdomen was cut open to retrieve a USB drive containing sensitive information. In addition, an alleged last text message that Yu sent to his mother came to light, in which he claimed that "dirty" money was putting him in danger and that he was being exploited. Another element of intrigue was added when his mother allegedly vanished during funeral preparations after initially ruling out foul play.

The official investigation has been questioned by legal experts, which has increased public desire for transparency. Taiwanese lawyer Yan Ruicheng publicly criticized the speed of the process, noting it would be “impossible to close the investigation in such a short time.” He warned that if evidence was tampered with or the body cremated before a complete autopsy, the investigation's credibility would be “seriously weakened.” Meanwhile, the online world has been flooded with support under the hashtag #JusticeForYuMenglong. Chinese actress Sun Lin echoed the public sentiment, posting, “Your fans will fight for justice. A deep-seated need for accountability and truth is reflected in the statement, "Justice may be delayed, but it will never be absent."
