Videos from the demonstrations show Raut at the frontlines with a microphone, chanting slogans as thousands of students march behind him. What began as a school function speech has evolved into a movement that has shaken Nepal’s government, forced Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to resign, and left the nation in a state of political crisis.
Raut’s school speech in March 2025 is now seen as the turning point. On stage at Holy Bell English Secondary School, he declared, “Today I stand here, stand here with a dream of building a new Nepal, with a fire of hope and passion burning within me. But my heart is heavy because this dream seems to be slipping away… I am present here today to immortalize a monumental change in the course of history.”
His fiery delivery went viral on social media. Months later, the same passion is driving Nepal’s Gen Z protest.
People call Avishkar Raut’s school speech “Hitler-style” because of the way he spoke. He used a very strong voice, sharp hand movements, and a forceful tone that reminded people of Adolf Hitler’s speeches.
Even though his message was about corruption and love for Nepal, the way he delivered it made his video go viral.
Now, the teenager has stepped into history as more than just a viral sensation. Standing before thousands in Kathmandu, Raut made another powerful appeal.
“The nationalists have brought calamity to the country. Only you can save the lives of young people like us. The time has come. We need to bring about a revolution. We need to protest,” he said.
Nepal President Ram Chandra Poudel confirmed on Tuesday that he accepted PM Oli’s resignation. However, he announced that Oli’s cabinet will “continue to run the government until a new Council of Ministers is formed.”

The President urged calm, saying, “As Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli’s resignation has already been accepted, there is a need for cooperation of all sides who love the country, people, and democracy, to find a solution to the current stalemate.”
The caretaker cabinet will continue in place under Article 77 (3) of the Constitution until new leadership is established.
As protests intensify, one name is emerging as the possible new prime minister, Balen Shah. Once a rapper, Shah is now the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City. His anti-establishment songs have made him hugely popular among Nepal’s youth.

In one of his lyrics, he wrote, “All those who protect the country are fools. All leaders are thieves, looting the country and eating it up.”
After Oli stepped down, Shah urged restraint. In a Facebook post, he said, “Since the Prime Minister has already stepped down, protesters must avoid further loss of life and property.”
The Gen Z protest is now a full-blown political rebellion. With Oli gone, demands for new leadership are growing. Two figures stand out: Avishkar Raut, the fearless teenager leading the protest, and Balen Shah, the mayor, with the support of the young.
Nepal’s future now lies in the hands of its youth, determined to fight corruption and bring change.
