Unrest in Bangladesh has once again drawn attention from New Delhi. As reports of violence and attacks on minorities emerge, India has voiced serious concern over the situation. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said it is closely monitoring developments in the neighbouring country and expects swift action against those responsible for violence.

MEA Raises Alarm Over Attacks on Minorities

Addressing the media on Friday, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal spoke strongly about the safety of minorities in Bangladesh. He said the continued targeting of minority communities remains deeply troubling for India.

The spokesperson described the situation as an ongoing issue that cannot be ignored. He stressed that the protection of minorities is essential for peace and stability in the region.

India Condemns Killing of Hindu Youth in Bangladesh

The MEA also reacted sharply to the killing of a Hindu youth in Bangladesh’s Mymensingh district. The victim was identified as 27-year-old Dipu Chandra Das, who was reportedly lynched by a mob.

Condemning the incident, Jaiswal said those behind the crime must face consequences.

“We condemn the recent gruesome killing of a Hindu youth and expect that the perpetrators of the crime will be brought to justice,” Jaiswal said.

The ministry said such incidents add to India’s concerns about the safety of minorities in Bangladesh.

India Closely Watching Situation in Neighbouring Country

The MEA spokesperson confirmed that India is aware of the latest developments and is keeping a close watch on the situation.

Jaiswal said the government remains engaged and continues to assess the impact of unrest on regional stability. India believes that calm and the rule of law are essential for the welfare of all communities in Bangladesh.

India’s Stand on Bangladesh Remains Unchanged

Speaking about bilateral ties, Jaiswal said India’s position has remained consistent. He stressed that India values its relationship with the people of Bangladesh.

“Our stand has been clear and consistent throughout,” he said.

India stands for strengthening our ties with the people of Bangladesh. We favour peace and stability in Bangladesh,” he added.

India, he said, continues to support democratic values and inclusive governance in the country.

Call for Free and Fair Elections

The MEA also highlighted the importance of democratic processes in Bangladesh. Jaiswal said India supports elections that include all sections of society.

“India stands for free, fair, inclusive, and participatory elections in Bangladesh,” he said.

According to the ministry, strong democratic institutions and protection of minorities are key to long-term peace and development in the region.

What This Means Going Forward

India’s statement signals growing concern over developments in Bangladesh. New Delhi expects accountability for violence and hopes the situation improves through dialogue, justice, and democratic processes.

As tensions persist, India’s focus remains on regional stability, minority safety, and strong people-to-people ties.
