In response to the brief clash between her father, Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro, and Donald Trump, Andrea Petro took to social media. She shared a meme of dolphins leaping under a rainbow and wrote, “For every Colombian deported we will return a gringo from the Poblado.”

Andrea likely referenced Medellín’s Poblado district, known for sex tourism. Last year, a 36-year-old American was caught with two underage girls. Although he fled before arrest, President Petro had requested his extradition from the US.

Tensions Escalate Between Trump and Petro

The situation escalated when President Petro announced a 25% tariff on US imports. This move came after Trump threatened to impose similar tariffs in retaliation for Petro rejecting two planes carrying deported migrants. However, Petro quickly changed his position and agreed to accept the migrants. In fact, he offered Colombia’s presidential plane to help bring them back, underscoring the country’s “commitment to guarantee decent conditions.”

Petro’s Sharp Criticism of Trump

Before the tariff dispute, Petro posted a passionate statement online. He criticized Trump, accusing him of endangering humanity due to his greed. “I don’t like your oil, Trump, you’re going to wipe out the human species because of greed,” Petro stated. He further added, “Maybe one day, over a glass of whiskey, which I accept, despite my gastritis, we can talk frankly about this, but it’s difficult because you consider me an inferior race and I’m not, nor is any Colombian.”
