The Vigilance Cell, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh conducted a workshop on Public Interest Disclosure and Protection of Informers (PIDPI) Resolution 2004 on 11th October, 2023. The purpose of the workshop was to create awareness amongst the stakeholders about the importance of protecting the identity of the complainant, who reports any kind of public interest disclosures. Approximately 70-80 officials/Officers and faculty members attended the workshop. In this workshop Sh. Ghanshyam Dass Sharma, HAS, Sr. Administrative Officer, briefed about the PIDPI resolution and its implementation in the institute. He explained the provisions of PIDPI resolution, the correct procedure for filing a PIDPI complaint and the common pitfalls/mistakes made while filing PIDPI complaints. “There is a strong need for a transparent and accountable system in public institutions, which can only be achieved if the employees are empowered to report any kind of wrongdoing without fear of retaliation”, emphasised, Sh. GhanshyamDass Sharma. The asper policy of the Government of India, no action is to be taken on anonymous/pseudonymous complaints. However, if a complainant wishes to file a complaint against any government Official about corruption and keep his identity confidential, there is a provision for filing complaints under PIDPI Resolution. The above workshop was conducted in compliance with the Central Vigilance Commission orders for preventive vigilance measures cum housekeeping activities to be taken up in the 3 months campaign from 16th August 2023 to 15th November 2023 as a prelude to Vigilance Awareness Week2023
