Over the past three days, people from the Jat community have been sitting on a dharna in the village of Jaychauli near the Uchchain tehsil, demanding reservation at the central level. On the third day of the Jat reservation agitation, on Friday, women arrived at the protest site wielding sticks.
Meanwhile, members of the Jat community performed a yajna on Friday for the wisdom of the government. Hundreds of people, including women and children from the Jat community, were present.
It is worth mentioning that Jats from Bharatpur and Dholpur districts started a massive protest on Wednesday, 500 meters away from the railway track in the village of Jaychauli. Before this, people from the Jat community had given the central government a 10-day ultimatum.
However, due to the government not taking action on their demands, the Jat community is now in a confrontational mood. For the past three days, people from the Jat community have been sitting in tented carts near the Jaychauli railway station, carrying out the protest peacefully. However, there is a possibility that the agitation will intensify after January 22.
The coordinator of the Jat Reservation Struggle Committee, Nem Singh Faujdar, stated that now women have joined the Mahapadav. Hundreds of women arrived at the dharna site this morning, wielding sticks, and performed a yajna for the wisdom of the government.
He said that we are conducting a peaceful dharna, and if the government invites us for talks, we are ready. The agitation will intensify after January 22.
He warned that if the demand is not met by January 22, we will intensify the agitation. Because on January 22, the consecration of Ram Lalla will take place in Ayodhya. In such a situation, we do not want to create any kind of controversy.
However, the agitation will intensify from January 23. He clearly stated that from January 23, blockades will be staged on the railway track as well as on national and state highways, for which the government will be responsible.
It should be noted that the demand for reservation for Jats in government jobs at the central level has been going on since 1998 in the Bharatpur and Dholpur districts. In 2013, during the Congress-led government of Manmohan Singh, the central government granted reservations to Jats in Bharatpur and Dholpur districts, along with 9 other states, under OBC.
In 2014, when the BJP government came to power at the centre, with the support of the court, on August 10, 2015, the reservation for Jats in Bharatpur-Dholpur in the centre was abolished.
On August 23, 2017, Vasundhara Raje granted reservation to Jats in both districts under OBC, but not at the central level. It is worth noting that Jats in the rest of Rajasthan get reservations at the central level. Only on a geographical basis, Jats in Bharatpur-Dholpur are deprived of reservation.
