A LinkedIn user recently shared a distressing experience on the platform, describing how a law firm in Mumbai terminated her employment abruptly after she fell ill with a fever and could not go to the office.

Despite her dedicated work and lack of complaints about her performance, the HR department provided no justification for her dismissal, attributing it to the partner’s decision. When she confronted the partner, he callously asserted his authority, stating that he could dismiss anyone at his discretion since it was his firm, and she was just an intern with no contractual agreement.

The incident highlights the toxic work culture prevalent in some workplaces, where employees are treated dismissively and without empathy, especially during challenging personal circumstances.

In a similar vein, a diabetic woman shared her story on Reddit, revealing that she was fired after taking a sick day due to a medical emergency related to her condition. Despite her health crisis, her employer chose to terminate her employment.

She expressed her disappointment and frustration, particularly at her boss’s seemingly indifferent attitude towards her medical situation. She also noted that she would have provided a doctor’s note if requested, emphasizing the lack of empathy and understanding in the workplace.
