India registered 8,635 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, the lowest in eight months, while the daily deaths fell below 100 after almost nine months. The country’s Covid-19 tally stands at 1,07,66,245 and the death toll increased to 1,54,486 with 94 new fatalities. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 1,04,48,406 pushing the national recovery rate to 97.05%, while the Covid-19 case fatality rate has dropped to 1.43%.
The national capital reported 121 new Covid-19 cases and three deaths due to the disease in the last 24 hours, the lowest in the last 10 months. Only 32 Covid-19 patients needed hospitalisation, which was also the lowest in the last 10 months. The death count mounted to 10,856 and the cumulative Covid-19 case count rose to 6,35,217.
Maharashtra recorded less than 2,000 new coronavirus cases on the second straight day which took the state’s caseload to 20,30,274. The state added 1,927 new cases in last twenty-four hours. As many as 30 people succumbed to Covid-19, taking the death toll to 51,139. On the other hand, 4,011 patients were discharged from hospitals, taking the overall number of recoveries in Maharashtra to 19,36,305. The state now has 41,586 active cases. Maharashtra’s case recovery rate now stands at 95.37 per cent, while the fatality rate is 2.52 per cent. At 334, Mumbai city reported the highest number of fresh cases along with seven deaths. The total of cases in Mumbai went up to 3,09,637 and the death toll to 11,368.
Haryana recorded 78 fresh coronavirus cases in the last twenty-four hours. The toll rose to 3,023 and the infection tally climbed to 2.68 lakh. There are 1,055 active cases and 2.64 lakh people have recovered, taking the recovery rate to 98.48 percent.
Karnataka’s Covid-19 tally moved up marginally to 9.40 lakh with the addition of 395 new cases while three fatalities took the toll to 12,223. As many as 412 people were discharged after being cured of the disease as the cumulative recoveries rose to 9.22 lakh, leaving 5,924 active cases. Till now 9,40,170 Covid-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state, which includes 12,223 deaths and 9,22,004 discharges.
Jammu and Kashmir recorded 44 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking the infection count to 1,24,594 while two more fatalities pushed the death toll to 1,938. Out of the fresh cases, 12 were reported from Jammu division and 32 from Kashmir division.
