India reported 45,209 fresh Covid-19 cases on Sunday taking the total number of infections in the country to 90.95 lakh.
There has been a slight dip in infections since Saturday when it recorded 46,232 cases. A total of 501 deaths were reported taking the total fatalities due to the deadly disease to over 1.33 lakh. There are over 4.4 lakh active cases in the country, and more than 85 lakh patients have recovered so far from the highly contagious disease.
Over 43,000 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and 10,75,326 tests have been conducted. The total tests conducted so far stands at 13.17 crore. The positivity rate stands at 4.2%, while the total recovery rate is 93.68 %.
Maharashtra remains the top affected state in the country with over 17.74 lakh cases. There are over 80,000 active cases in the state, and in the last 24 hours Maharashtra recorded 5,760 new cases,4,060 recovered, and 50 people died. The total deaths in the state are over 46,000. Mumbai reported 1,135 new cases, 618 recoveries and 19 deaths. Delhi reported 5,879 Covid-19 cases and 111 deaths in the last 24 hours. The total infections in the national capital are above 5 lakh.
Uttar Pradesh recorded 2,588 fresh coronavirus cases, pushing the tally to 5,26,780, while the death toll rose to 7,559 with 35 more fatalities. Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary R.K. Tiwari on Sunday said that the administration will begin testing people coming from Delhi via flight, bus or train, in the wake of the surge in Covid-19 cases in the national capital. “We are also discussing the number of people allowed to attend wedding or event”.
Chandigarh reported 80 new Covid-19 cases, taking the total positive cases to 16,671. A total of 15,317 patients recovered from the infection till date, the death toll at 260. Active cases stand at 1094, Health Department, UT-Chandigarh.
Punjab reported 710 new Covid-19 cases, 497 discharges and 19 deaths today. Total cases in the state rise to 1,46,346, including 1,35,008 recoveries and 4,614 deaths. Active cases stand at 6,724.
Jharkhand’s Covid-19 tally mounted to 1,07,332 as 175 more people tested positive for the infection. Six more persons succumbed to Covid in the last 24 hours, pushing the death toll in the state to 945.
Gujarat recorded the highest single-day spike of 1,515 coronavirus cases on Saturday taking the tally to 1,95,917. Meanwhile, the death toll reached 3,846 with nine new fatalities. Karnataka reported 1,704 new cases of Covid-19, taking the total cases in the state to 8,73,046, 1,537 people recovered, and 13 died. A total of 8,36,505 people have recovered, and 11,654 people died.
