India recorded 35,551 new Covid-19 infections, taking the country›s coronavirus case tally to 95.3 lakh. Up to 526 people also lost their lives to the highly viral disease in the last 24 hours. With this, a total of 1,38,648 people have lost their lives to coronavirus till now. Total active cases, or those receiving Covid treatment, stand at 4,22,943, down nearly 5,700 in the last 24 hours.
Delhi reported 3734 new Covid-19 cases, taking the total tally of the state to 5,82,058. A total of 4834 have recovered in the last 24 hours increasing the recovery rate to 5,43,514, and 82 died taking the death toll to 9424. Active cases stand at 29,120.
Meanwhile, the positivity rate of Covid-19 dipped below 5 per cent in the national capital on Thursday, for the first time since October 7, after Delhi conducted a record number of tests in the last 24 hours. Exactly 57 days ago on 7 October, the positivity rate of new cases had fallen below 5 per cent to 4.9 per cent.
Haryana recorded 1,635 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the tally to 2,39,239, while the death toll mounted to 2,520 with 32 more fatalities. Active cases stand at 15,516.
Maharashtra’s Covid-19 tally on Thursday increased to 18,37,358 with the addition of 5,182 new cases. The state reported 115 deaths which pushed the fatality count to 47,472. A total of 8,066 patients were discharged during the day, taking the recovery count to 17,03,274. The number of active cases is now 85,535.
Karnataka recorded 1,446 new coronavirus cases, 894 discharges, and 13 deaths, according to the State Health Department. Total cases mounted to 8,89,113, while total recoveries reached 8,52,584. Meanwhile, 11,821 people died.
Madhya Pradesh recorded 1,450 new Covid-19 cases, 1,569 recoveries, and 13 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the State Health Department. Total cases rose to 2,10,374. The total recoveries reached 1,93,187, while the death toll climbed 3,300.
Gujarat recorded 1,540 fresh coronavirus cases, and 13 deaths in the last 24 hours. The caseload in the state, thus, rose to 2,14,309 while the death count reached 4,031. Also, 1,427 patients were discharged during the day.
Altogether 51 people succumbed to Covid-19 in West Bengal yesterday pushing the death toll in the state to 8,527. The tally went up to 4,90,070 after 3,271 fresh cases of infection were reported from various parts of the state. The discharge rate has gone up to 93.33% after 3,275 recoveries were registered during the day. The number of people cured of coronavirus is now 4,57,377.
