On the allegations of CM Bhagwant Mann, Punjab BJP Chief Sunil Jakhar held a press conference on Thursday and said that Punjab and its history is a matter of pride for every citizen of this nation. So far on why Punjab’s tableau was rejected, he enquired about it and learned that Punjab Government wishes to display CM Punjab Bhagwant Mann and Arvind Kejriwal’s photo in the tableau.

Responding to Mann’s allegations, Sunil Jakhar, countered the CM’s claims, stating that he had investigated the allegations made by the Chief Minister. Jakhar remarked, “It turned out to be much ado about nothing. Bhagwant Mann and Arvind Kejriwal wanted their pictures on these tableaux. That’s why Punjab’s tableau was rejected. However, this is not the first time. In the last 17 years, tableaux have been rejected multiple times,” added Jakhar. He criticized Mann’s choice of language directed at the Prime Minister, calling it condemnable.

Statements by CM Bhagwant Mann

Mann had earlier mentioned that states selected for the tableaux included Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Odisha, Manipur, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Goa, Meghalaya, Ladakh, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh. Mann claimed that the Center politicized everything, “It seems like Republic Day and Independence Day have been ‘Bhagwafication,’ ‘BJP-ification,’ and politicized.”

Regarding the exclusion of Punjab’s tableaux from the Republic Day parade, Mann asserted that these tableaux would now be a part of Punjab’s Republic Day celebrations. He added, “We will also mark these rejections on these tableaux by the Centre.”
