In 2024, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has reportedly paid the highest tax among all Indian celebrities, according to Fortune India. The actor contributed a staggering ₹92 crore, surpassing his peers by a significant margin.
Following Shah Rukh is Tamil cinema icon Vijay, who paid ₹80 crore in taxes. Salman Khan, another Bollywood heavyweight, secured third place with a tax contribution of ₹75 crore.
Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan contributed ₹71 crore in taxes, securing the fourth spot on the list. Cricketer Virat Kohli, ranked fifth, paid ₹66 crore, while actor Ajay Devgn came in sixth with ₹42 crore. MS Dhoni followed at seventh with a tax payment of ₹38 crore. Actors Ranbir Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan, ranked eighth and ninth respectively, paid ₹36 crore and ₹28 crore in taxes. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar also made it to the top 10 with a tax contribution of ₹28 crore.
The top 20 list features several prominent female celebrities. Kareena Kapoor contributed ₹20 crore in taxes, while Kiara Advani paid ₹12 crore. Comedian Kapil Sharma made a tax payment of ₹26 crore, and former cricketer Sourav Ganguly paid ₹23 crore. Other notable figures in the top 20 include Shahid Kapoor (₹14 crore), Hardik Pandya (₹13 crore), and actors Mohanlal and Allu Arjun, who both paid ₹14 crore in taxes. Pankaj Tripathi and Katrina Kaif each contributed ₹11 crore.
Aamir Khan and cricketer Rishabh Pant paid ₹10 crore each, securing the 21st and 22nd spots on the list. Aamir’s most recent appearance was in the 2022 film Laal Singh Chaddha, a remake of Forrest Gump, where he starred alongside Kareena Kapoor, Naga Chaitanya, and Mona Singh.
Shah Rukh Khan, who made a powerful comeback in 2023 with hits like Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki, is set to appear in Sujoy Ghosh’s upcoming film King, where his daughter, Suhana Khan, is also expected to make an appearance.
Vijay’s latest release GOAT, directed by Venkat Prabhu, hit theatres recently. The film features an ensemble cast, including Prabhudheva, Prashanth, Mohan, Ajmal Ameer, and Meenakshi Chaudhary.
Salman Khan is gearing up for his next release, Sikandar, directed by AR Murugadoss. The movie, which also stars Rashmika Mandanna, is scheduled for release on Eid.
