JD(S) MLC Suraj Revanna, son of former Karnataka minister HD Revanna, was arrested by Hassan police on charges of allegedly sodomising a party worker. He was subsequently handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation.

The arrest followed an FIR filed against Suraj Revanna at the Holenarasipura police station under Section 377 (unnatural sex) of the IPC, based on a complaint from a 27-year-old male party worker.

More About Suraj Revanna

Suraj Revanna hails from a prominent political family in Karnataka, being the brother of former MP Prajwal Revanna and son of JD(S) MLA HD Revanna and Bhavani Revanna. He currently serves as a member of the Karnataka Legislative Council from Hassan district, becoming the 8th member of the Gowda family to enter politics.

The Revanna family has faced controversy following allegations involving Prajwal Revanna and the emergence of alleged obscene videos. Prajwal was arrested by the SIT at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport on May 31 upon his return from Germany.

Allegations Against Suraj Revanna

The allegations against Suraj Revanna stem from an incident at his Gannikada farm in Holenarasipura on June 16, where he is accused of committing “unnatural offences” and sexually abusing the party worker.

Suraj Revanna’s Response

Suraj Revanna has refuted the accusations, claiming they are an attempt to extort Rs 5 crore from him. A case of extortion was registered against the JD(S) worker based on a complaint filed by Suraj Revanna’s close associate Shivakumar, who accused the party worker of demanding money in exchange for not filing a false sexual assault case. According to Shivakumar, the man initially demanded Rs 5 crore but later reduced the amount to Rs 2 crore.
