Manchester City have been dominating the Premier League standings for a while. Since the 2017/18 season, they have only missed one championship trophy. Led by Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool managed to win in 2019/20 and take the number one spot at the end of the season.
For the past couple of years, Arsenal has been City’s main competitor, but it seems like the Gunners always end up short somehow. This year, however, is another opportunity for someone to take out the Manchester Blues, and if anyone’s been waiting for long enough, it might be Arsenal fans.
Let’s go through the main favourites to lift the Premier League trophy this year and mention a few dark horses that might play a role in determining the champions. Then, you can head to Betswap and make your predictions for the upcoming games.
Manchester City
Of course, winning six out of the last seven championships makes Manchester City the main favourites for this year, too. However, after only a few league games, City looks beatable. They don’t hold the leading spot at the moment, and it may be time for a change on the podium.
Their game doesn’t look much different from what we’re used to, and it’s likely that those few mishaps shouldn’t be looked too far into. Still, winning five trophies in a row will be challenging, despite how good Manchester City may be.
Arsenal
The Gunners came really close to winning the championship in the past two years. But they somehow managed to fumble the ball in the last few match days and end up in the second spot in the standings. But, this year, they have another opportunity and a solid team whose game has looked promising so far.
David Raya has been outstanding and protected the ball against difficult opponents in most of the games. And, when you pair him with the offensive lineup of Sterling, Gabriel Jesus, and Saka, it’s obvious that Arsenal has quality on both ends. We’ll see if it will be enough to beat everyone else in England.
Liverpool
Liverpool is leading the Premier League standings at the moment, and their entire squad seems to be in excellent form. Though there have been talks about Salah leaving this year, he showed up ready to play and performed in impressive fashion.
The rest of the guys followed his lead, and under the instructions of their new coach, Liverpool has been taking out everyone in front of them. We’ll see if they can keep up this level and take home another Premier League trophy.
Dark Horses: Chelsea and Aston Villa
Most analysts don’t consider Aston Villa a serious contender for a championship, as it may be difficult for them to keep up this level of play for the entire Premier League season. Chelsea, on the other hand, hasn’t had a successful season in a while, and their team doesn’t look ready to beat the big three from the top of the stands. However, all three of the favourites will need to be careful when playing these two teams, as both of them have the capabilities to surprise and steal points that might be crucial in the end.
