Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has highlighted two debutants, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dube, as pivotal to India’s prospects in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 to be held in the Caribbean and USA in June.

Both Jaiswal and Dube have been included in India’s 15-member squad for the tournament, with Shastri emphasizing their potential impact. Jaiswal, known for his explosive batting at the top order, showcased exceptional form during the ICC World Test Championship series against England, amassing a record tally of runs.

Shastri praised Jaiswal’s fearless approach and ability to play aggressive shots, labeling him as a key asset for India’s batting lineup. Meanwhile, Dube’s recent performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) have caught Shastri’s eye, with the all-rounder smashing 26 sixes in 11 matches and maintaining an impressive strike rate of 170.73.

Describing Dube as an explosive and devastating player, Shastri highlighted his match-winning capabilities and proficiency against both spin and pace bowling. Dube’s ability to accelerate the scoring rate and change the momentum of the game quickly from the middle order positions him as a crucial player for India.

Shastri emphasized that Dube’s big-hitting style and high strike rate would be instrumental in India’s quest for posting imposing totals in the T20 World Cup, noting that his performances could be decisive in achieving scores of 190 or 200, crucial in major competitions.

As India gears up for the T20 World Cup, the focus will be on these promising talents under Shastri’s keen observation, adding depth and firepower to India’s campaign in the tournament.
