Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a significant two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir starting on June 20. The visit is anticipated to be a pivotal moment for the region, marking the inauguration and foundation stone laying of numerous development projects across the Union Territory.
The visit will commence at 6:00 PM on June 20, with the Prime Minister participating in the ‘Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K’ event at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar. One of the key highlights of the visit will be the launch of the Competitiveness Improvement in Agriculture and Allied Sectors Project (JKCIP). This initiative aims to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability in the region, underscoring the government’s commitment to boosting the agricultural sector, which is a vital part of the local economy.
On June 21, Prime Minister Modi will begin his day early at 6:30 AM by participating in the 10th International Day of Yoga event at SKICC in Srinagar. He will address the gathering and take part in the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) Yoga session, emphasizing the profound impact of Yoga on young minds and bodies. The celebration aims to unite thousands in the practice of Yoga, promoting health and wellness on a global scale.
A major focus of PM Modi’s visit will be the inauguration and foundation stone laying of 84 major developmental projects valued at over Rs. 1,500 crore. These projects span various sectors including road infrastructure, water supply schemes, and higher education infrastructure. Significant projects include the improvement of the Chenani-Patnitop-Nashri Section, the development of Industrial Estates, and the construction of six Government Degree Colleges.
In addition to these developments, the Prime Minister will distribute appointment letters to more than 2,000 newly appointed government employees. This initiative further demonstrates the government’s commitment to creating employment opportunities and strengthening public services in the region.
