Construction of a new sixth railway line between Khar and Goregaon stations in Mumbai is currently underway, spanning an 8.8-kilometer stretch within the Mumbai suburban section. This project, which is expected to provide significant benefits to local train commuters, involves a temporary disruption in train services. Approximately 2,525 local train services will be canceled from October 27 (Friday) to November 6 (Monday) to facilitate this essential construction work.
The primary aim of this endeavor is to enhance punctuality and prepare for the introduction of additional train services in the future. Despite the inconveniences posed by these service cancellations, the Western Railway has been diligent in planning the construction to minimize disruptions and inconvenience to passengers.
In preparation for the construction of the sixth line, non-interlocking work is scheduled to occur from October 26-27 through November 5. During this period, some suburban train services will be canceled. This is part of a carefully coordinated strategy to ensure the smooth execution of the project while causing minimal disruption to rail traffic and inconvenience to passengers.
The Western Railway aims to complete this construction project efficiently and promptly, with the long-term goal of improving the railway network’s capacity and service quality. While these service interruptions are inevitable during the construction phase, they are a necessary sacrifice to achieve the long-term benefits of enhanced commuter services and a more robust railway infrastructure.
