Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Divas, is observed in India every year on November 26 to commemorate the adoption of the Indian Constitution

Constitution Day was first celebrated in 2015, marking the 125th birth anniversary of Dr B.R. Ambedkar

The Constitution itself was a result of extensive deliberations by the Constituent Assembly, which comprised 299 members. The drafting process began on December 9, 1946, and took nearly two years, eleven months, and eighteen days to complete

On November 26, 1949, the Assembly adopted the final draft of the Constitution, and it came into effect on January 26, 1950, making India a fully sovereign republic
