Small Plane Crashes into Parked Aircraft at Montana Airport

A small plane crashed into a parked aircraft while landing at Kalispell City Airport on Monday, igniting a large fire but causing no major injuries

The single-engine Socata TBM 700 turboprop was carrying four people when it attempted to land around 2:00 pm, officials said

According to authorities, the landing aircraft struck another parked plane, triggering a fire that spread to a grassy area before being extinguished

Witnesses reported seeing the plane approach from the south, crash-land at the runway’s end, and collide with another aircraft

Despite the fire, the pilot and three passengers escaped on their own. Two passengers had minor injuries and were treated at the airport

Fire crews quickly responded, preventing the blaze from spreading further, though several aircraft were affected

Kalispell City Airport is a small, city-owned facility located just south of Kalispell, Montana, home to about 30,000 residents

FAA records show the plane was built in 2011 and is owned by Meter Sky LLC of Pullman, Washington

Aviation safety consultant Jeff Guzzetti said such collisions between landing and parked planes occur a few times a year in general aviation
