A sudden cloudburst triggered swift flash floods and a landslide near Dharali village in Uttarkashi, around 1:45 PM on August 5

The village lies just 4 km from the Indian Army camp at Harshil – both sites were impacted by the deluge

Over 50 civilians and 11 army personnel are feared missing in the aftermath

Within 10 minutes, 150 troops from the Ibex Brigade arrived with medical and rescue gear — starting evacuation

Around 130 people—including locals and soldiers—rescued from debris and transported to Harshil medical facility

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Dhami deployed SDRF, NDRF, army, and local authorities for urgent rescue and relief operations 

Heavy rains, blocked roads, damaged bridges and communication issues hamper ongoing relief operations

Experts blame recurring disasters on climate change and unchecked development in Uttarakhand’s ecologically fragile zones
