Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm welcome from the Indian diaspora upon his arrival in Moscow, Russia. This visit marks his first to Moscow in five years. Upon landing at Vnukovo-II International Airport, he was greeted by Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov. A notable highlight of the reception was a young Russian girl dressed in traditional Indian attire, dancing energetically to Bhangra music. She wore a yellow dupatta and blouse with a multicolored lehenga, dancing to the beats of a dhol being played in the background.

Many members of the Indian community were present, eagerly waving the Tricolor and hoping to catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister. Modi took the time to interact with several people in the gathering.

During his two-day visit, PM Modi is scheduled to meet President Vladimir Putin to discuss a range of issues. Putin will host a private dinner for Modi, where the two leaders are expected to talk about regional and global issues of mutual interest. Reflecting on his visit, Prime Minister Modi said, “The special and privileged strategic partnership between India and Russia has advanced over the past ten years, including in the areas of energy, security, trade, investment, health, education, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.”

He added, “I look forward to reviewing all aspects of bilateral cooperation with my friend President Vladimir Putin and sharing perspectives on various regional and global issues. We seek to play a supportive role in a peaceful and stable region. The visit will also provide me with an opportunity to meet the vibrant Indian community in Russia.”
