The Indian Prime Minister will engage in both one-on-one and delegation-level discussions with Zelensky, focusing on potential solutions to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. This is the first time an Indian Prime Minister has visited Ukraine since the country gained independence in 1991.

“I look forward to the opportunity to build upon earlier conversations with President Zelensky on strengthening bilateral cooperation and share perspectives on peaceful resolution of the ongoing Ukraine conflict,” Modi stated before his departure from Delhi.

India has maintained a neutral position in the Russia-Ukraine war, advocating for dialogue and diplomacy. Modi’s administration has embraced a “multi-alignment” approach, engaging with both Russia and Ukraine independently.

Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk has highlighted India’s potential role in facilitating a resolution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
