During London Fashion Week 2024, Punjabi rapper-singer Sidhu Moosewala, who was tragically shot in May 2022, was honored with a special tribute. At a show by the label Nebojsa, models walked the runway to the sound of Moosewala’s song “47.” The tribute was well-received, with many commenting on the label’s choice of music for the event.

The fashion label posted a video of the tribute on Instagram with the caption, “For the culture…” Reactions included praise for the choice of song and its fit with the runway setting. Comments ranged from “Works so well” and “Perfect for the runway” to “They’ve got good taste” and “As they should.” Fire emojis were frequently used to express enthusiasm for the tribute.
Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead in Punjab’s Mansa on May 29, 2022. His final song, “SYL,” was released posthumously in June 2022. Following his death, Punjab police accused Canada-based singer Goldy Brar and gangster Lawrence Bishnoi of orchestrating the murder. Reports indicated that over 30 rounds were fired at Moosewala, who was found slumped in the driver’s seat.
His death led to significant political fallout in Punjab, including calls for the dismissal of the Bhagwant Mann government. This incident occurred shortly after his security was reduced. Sidhu Moosewala, who had contested the 2019 assembly election from Mansa on a Congress ticket, was defeated by AAP’s Vijay Singla. He is survived by his parents, Balkaur Singh and Charan Kaur.
Earlier this year, Sidhu Moosewala’s parents welcomed a baby boy, naming him Shubhdeep in honor of Sidhu. His real name was Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu.
