In the age of social media, it has become commonplace to see people dancing in public places and making videos. These activities occur at tourist attractions, on streets, public transportation, and even in temples, often causing outrage and disruption. Recently, a video of a young woman dancing boldly in front of a government building has sparked widespread anger online. The incident took place at the Collectorate building in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.

The video, shared on Instagram, features the woman dressed in a black saree, dancing to the popular song ‘Tip Tip Barsa Pani’ from Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon’s movie ‘Mohra.’ The video humorously notes that she chose the collectorate premises instead of other public locations like the fort, Baijtaal, or the Italian Garden.

Reports indicate that the woman’s actions and daring dance moves were considered objectionable, leading some individuals to file a complaint against her. The video also caught the attention of social worker Akash Barua, who has submitted a formal complaint to the Gwalior SDM, calling for strict action.

Barua expressed concerns about the negative image this incident could create for the city and stressed that it could send the wrong message to the youth.

“A large number of people visit historical places every day. If such videos are shot at such public spots, they can bring a bad name to the city,” he said, as quoted by the Free Press Journal.

Numerous similar videos online have reignited concerns about the trend of public dancing in inappropriate locations. Previously, another video went viral from Mumbai airport, where a woman was seen filming dance reels. This video was widely shared, with many criticizing her for causing a public disturbance.

“Need an amendment in the laws,” a user commented.

While another said, “It is incredulous that the para-military forces at the airport are mute spectators to such nonsense.”

“What police and security is going to throw this kind of nonsense out of the airport as people like her are a threat to the tradition and culture of India . This Nonsense Must not be allowed at any cost!” a comment read.

Despite the increasing frequency of these incidents, the administration has repeatedly urged the public to maintain decorum in public places, yet these appeals appear to be in vain.
