Karwa Chauth, a prominent festival celebrated by married women in India, traditionally involves fasting for their husbands’ long and healthy lives. However, a recent video featuring an elderly man performing the Karwa Chauth puja for former adult film star Mia Khalifa has sparked a lively debate on social media. Shared by the user Guru Ji on X, known for his comedic posts, the clip has quickly gained widespread attention.
The video shows the elderly man performing the Karwa Chauth puja with a traditional thali and channi, while gazing at a picture of Mia Khalifa that is hung on the wall. While some viewers found humor in this unconventional tribute, others criticized it, seeing it as an inappropriate attempt to seek attention.

The comments on the video highlight the divided opinions. One user lamented, “Regrettably, such beautiful celebrations have been reduced to indulgent displays, driven by the desire for mere attention and views.” Another speculated that the elderly man’s actions were likely influenced by his grandchildren, stating, “Nothing just their grandchildren made them do this just for some likes and engagement.” In contrast, some viewers appreciated the humor, with one simply saying, “This is funny,” and another adding, “It made me laugh so hard, hahaha funny.” However, not everyone was entertained, as one comment pointed out, “This is creepy.”
This is not the first time Mia Khalifa’s image has sparked controversy in India. In August, her likeness appeared on a hoarding in Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, as part of the decorations for the Aadi festival, during which temples honor Goddess Amman (Parvati).
