Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has reacted to the controversial remarks by YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as the BeerBiceps Guy, on a roast show. Fadnavis said that he hasn’t watched the video but confirmed that the state will take action against anyone who crosses the line of decency.
“I have been informed about this, though I have not watched it yet. I came to know that it was very vulgar and this was wrong. Everyone has freedom of speech but this freedom ends when we encroach upon others’ freedom. Everyone has limits, if anyone crosses them, action will be taken,” Fadnavis stated.

The remarks made on the “India’s Got Latent” show, which has gone viral on social media platforms, have already triggered massive outrage across platforms because many are stating that the remarks are inappropriate and vulgar.
Complaints Filed Against Ranveer Allahbadia and Others
After the viral clip, two lawyers from Mumbai, Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra, filed a police complaint demanding action against Ranveer Allahbadia and other comedians involved in the show, including Samay Raina and Apoorva Makhija. The complaint, addressed to Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar and the state women’s commission, claims that the remarks disrespected women and spread inappropriate thoughts.
The complaint specifically notes a moment from the show in which Allahbadia asks a participant, “Would you rather watch your parents having sex every day for the rest of your life or join them once and stop them forever?” Lawyers argue that comments, accompanied by various other sexually crass remarks concerning the female body, serve no better purpose than lining their coffers at the expense of decency and respect.
The lawyers have urged the “India’s Got Latent” show to be closed down and to file an FIR against the comedians and show organizers for spreading vulgarity and disrespect.
Social Media Anger and Rebuke from Celebrities
The video clip has sparked widespread criticism, especially on social media, where many have condemned the show for passing off vulgarity as comedy. Journalist and lyricist Neelesh Misra shared the controversial clip, expressing dismay over the lack of responsibility shown by creators of such content.
“I am also not surprised at all that four people at the desk – and lots in the audience – celebrated this and had a great laugh. You, the audience, normalized and celebrated this and people like these,” Misra said in a post on X. He further criticized the lack of decency in India’s entertainment industry, stating that creators are resorting to lower and crasser content to gain audience reach and revenue.
“Would you rather watch your parents have sex for the rest of your life — or would you join in once and stop it forever?”
Meet the perverted creators who are shaping our country’s creative economy. I am sure each one has a following of millions.

Political Reactions and Public Outcry
Congress leader Supriya Shrinate also reacted, saying that the claps these comments garnered are scary. “This isn’t creative. It’s a pervert. And we can’t normalize perverse behavior as cool. The fact that this sick comment met loud applause must worry us all,” Shrinate said.
The controversy continues to grow as the debate over free speech, decency, and respect in public discourse rages on. While many argue that freedom of expression is important, others are calling for stronger regulations to curb content that crosses the boundaries of decency and respect for individuals, especially women.
As the issue unfolds, it remains to be seen what actions will be taken by authorities and how they will impact the future of online comedy and content creation in India.
