‘You Shouldn’t Have Let Us Book!’: Goa Guests Leave Filthy Mess In Airbnb | WATCH

Hosting Airbnb isnt always easy. Recently, an incident was learned by a host the hard way as shared by “The Golden Perch,” an immensely popular Airbnb host on Instagram, which gives out various challenges that owners face once their guests show little to no respect for space in the property.

The Incident: From Cleanliness to Chaos

The host shared a before-and-after video, showing the shocking state in which the property was left. The footage showed dirty dishes piled up, a greasy kitchen slab, unclean induction cooktops, and food bits scattered everywhere. Initially, the property was handed over in spotless condition, but the way it was left meant that an entire day was required to clean it up, including fighting foul odours and an ant infestation from leftover food.

It seems the guests, getting confronted over the mess were added injury. According to the sources, before we stayed at SkyVillas where infants made so much more mess, and they did not even have a complain. You must not have allowed our booking so that we could book the right house“.

The Emotional Host

Running an Airbnb is not easy on the heart,” the host confessed in their post. They expressed disappointment, stating, We dont expect things to be untouched, but leaving such a mess is beyond reasoning. At least be a little thoughtful.”

Despite the blunder, the host swore to remain optimistic, continuing, When you put in efforts and someone destroys it, something dies in you. But we need to get back up again and focus on making things better.”

Social Media Comments

The video soon got viral, garnering over 9.4 lakh views. The comments read like this:

One commenter quipped, “Perhaps thats how they keep their own houses as well.”
Another
said, “Put a contract in place detailing cleanliness and charge advance pay. Many people dont understand the difference between Airbnb and a hotel.”
Yet another added, Money can buy many things; however, it can not buy empathy, class or cleanliness.
Others justified the host, insisting on how basic etiquette was overlooked. One comment went as far as saying, This isnt about wiping floors or cleaning kitchens. Its about basic hygiene—leftover rice was thrown in the sink when theres a dustbin right there.”

The Bigger Picture

It would be enlightening to reflect on the issues Airbnb hosts face, from high standards to dealing with guests that lack respect for the property. With the rise of vacation rentals, such incidents highlight the need for better communication and stricter guest policies to ensure mutual respect and understanding between hosts and visitors.
