In an astonishing feat that’s taken the internet by surprise, Marie Pearl Zelmer Robinson from the United States has officially bagged a Guinness World Record for having the largest mouth gape among women — a talent she believes had been “hiding in plain sight” all along.
Marie’s jaw-dropping gape measures a massive 7.62 cm (3 inches) when fully open, effortlessly surpassing the previous record of 2.56 inches held by Samantha Ramsdell. The most mind-boggling part? She can slide an enormous ten-patty burger between her jaws without a hint of struggle — a sight best seen to be believed.
Surprisingly, this record-setting moment could’ve arrived years ago. Back in 2021, her hometown hosted a Guinness World Record event — not for mouth gape, but for the largest Wellington boot race. “Nearly 2,000 people showed up for it,” she recalled. Unfortunately, Marie had to skip the opportunity due to work commitments at the courier business she runs with her husband.

It wasn’t until she randomly stumbled upon videos of the male and female record-holders that she had her lightbulb moment. “I was watching the videos and I thought, ‘Wait a second, there’s a record for that? And people are measuring it?’” she laughed. “I grabbed a ruler, looked in the mirror, and thought – I can totally do that.”
Marie’s record isn’t just about jaw-dropping flexibility or quirky genetics. She says the reason behind her unique ability lies in her anatomy. “Most people, when they open their mouth wide, their jaw presses against tendons and muscles. But mine doesn’t – it just keeps going,” she explained. “It’s not something you’d notice unless you’re really paying attention to where your bones are. I always felt something different, but I never imagined it would be a world record.”
And burgers aren’t the only thing she can conquer. Marie proudly claims she can fit three and a half Jenga blocks in her mouth — attributing her natural talent partly to years of chatting. “My penchant for talking probably trained those muscles well over the years,” she joked.
Marie’s quirky and unexpected achievement has not only earned her a place in the Guinness World Records but also sparked curiosity and amazement around the world.
